After the game against Japan we collected Connor for a while and took him hockey shopping yet again. In the nearby town of Abbotsford one of their hockey shops, Mad Dogs, was taking up to 75% off prices as they were closing down their hockey department. The sale starts later in the week but they kindly offered to open from 5-8pm tonight for Friendship Games teams. As Connor will be playing at 6.30pm we thought we would go down early and see if they would let us shop anyway.
We were very lucky that they let us in to shop. The young guy who served us had attended the Friendship Games in Canberra in 1999 and so was super keen to help us out. We left the shop with our wallets considerably lighter having bought 2 sets of skates, skate guards, a drink bottle, another jersey etc. It was well worth it though as we saved $130 Canadian on each pair of skates, so probably a saving of about $300-$500 per pair of skates in Australia.
Once the shopping was done, or so I thought, we had lunch at a lovely little cafe across the road. On the way back to Aldergrove we stopped at "The Zone" - another hockey shop we had visited previously, and bought a stick bag, tape and a mini-stick hockey goal. I'm not sure when the spending will stop but I hope its soon or we'll never be able to get all this stuff home!!!!
