After the game against Oakdale Tartan there was some time to drive in the pouring rain to "The Source", a 3 storey hockey shop in nearby Surrey. We have never seen anything like it at home. Needless to say the boys, and their parents, were in hockey heaven. Interestingly, although unplanned we ran into most of our team and their host families, and the whole Korean team, in the store. Below is just a small sample of what was on offer.
Connor was thrilled that we bought him a new helmet (he will finally be able to fit in his helmet without needing a major hair cut), a new pair of shorts (this was hard as he now needs Senior Men's), a new Easton stick (it had to be an Easton because his new hockey hero, Jake, only uses Easton), a Chicago Blackhawks drink bottle and an Easton toiletry bag. With his own money, Connor also bought the Chicago Blackhawks heritage jersey and socks. He was so excited. He did try to talk us into the giant hockey net above with the surrounds. Although it was a great price the freight on that thing would have killed us!!! Downstairs, where they house the goalie equipment, they also have a shooting gallery which Connor, Josh and Jake had a great time trying out. When we could prise them out of the shop, it was time to head back to Aldergrove to get ready for the official Opening Ceremony of the Friendship Games. After the Opening Ceremony Michelle and Jan had very kindly invited us and the Winklers to come over to their home to share dinner while watching the Canucks game.
