Last night we had a wonderful final dinner with Jan and Michelle and said our thank yous and goodbye to Jan as he would be at work this morning meaning we would not see him again. We got home just after 1am at which time David decided it would be a good idea to empty Connor's hockey bag and re-pack it. Hmmm, Ryan and I were not so keen.
After breakfast, where Ryan squeezed in one last waffle with maple syrup, we went back to the room and finished the packing. It was a hard morning saying goodbye to the Barker's and then our wonderful host family. We also had the chance to catch up with Dave, a parent from the Southern Knights, and exchange contact details. We also did our bit for trans-tasman relations with Dave and I swapping hoodies.
Just as we finished packing our bags and loading the car Michelle arrived with Connor, Josh, Jake and Trey. We were so happy that Michelle went to collect Darrien who also wanted to say his goodbyes.
It is hard to put into words how wonderful the Kristensen family have been. They have opened their home and their hearts not only to the boys but to the whole Oxlad and Winkler families. We feel very blessed for what they have given us, and more importantly, given Connor during this experience. We could not have asked for a better host family. We are really going to miss them. Knowing we were staying in Vancouver for another couple of days Connor has already asked if we can spend that time visiting Aldergrove but I think Michelle and Jan need time for a well earned break. Its finally time for us to move on the Vancouver and begin the next leg of our North American adventure.
