After a break in the hotel we met the Winklers and went to TGI Fridays for dinner. When we had finished it was a short walk to the Rockefeller Center to pick up our tickets to the Observation Deck. Initially we had tickets to go up at 7.50pm but we were then told our tickets needed to be reissued and the time was changed to 8.45pm. This meant we had a bit over an hour to wait. What better way to pass the time than with some Ben and Jerry's. The boys went for their fall back cookie dough in a waffle cone while David and I both tried a new flavour only available in the Ben and Jerry's Shop - Chocolate Therapy - chocolate ice cream with chocolate cookies and swirls of chocolate pudding ice cream. Boy was it good therapy!!!!
When our turn came we took the lift up to the Observation Deck. The lift ride itself is quite an experience. It has a glass ceiling which lights up and you can see the inside of the lift shaft as you climb to the Top of the Rock. There are 3 different levels of viewing platforms at the top. The view of New York at night was absolutely beautiful. We could even see the partially built Freedom Tower we had spent time near this morning all lit up. It was hard to leave such an amazing view but as it was getting late we had to call it a night. We made our way back to the hotel and said our goodbyes to the Winklers as we go our separate ways tomorrow - they are off to Washington D.C., while we fly out to Los Angeles, on our way to Hawaii. We have had a fabulous time in New York and will be sorry to leave. Its hard to believe after nearly 8 days but there is still so much more we would have loved to do.
Loved it all Guys. Enjoy LA and Hawaii and we'll see you on the flip side of the world!!
